Breast Augmentation with Implants

Breast Implants have become the second most commonly performed cosmetic surgical procedure in New Jersey after Liposuction.

Today’s advances in breast implants offer more options in breast augmentation to satisfy the needs of more women than ever before. There are many different types of breast implants available today that look and feel completely natural.
In a survey by The American Society of Plastic Surgeons, when asked the primary reason for wanting breast implants, most women surveyed said it was to improve the way they feel about themselves. Breast Augmentation surgery often gives patients a significant boost of self-esteem.

Today's advancement of Breast Augmentation Surgeries come with Little Risk and Many Benefits
It is not possible to determine the exact cup size that you will be after having breast implants because every bra manufacturer measures bras differently. You might be a "C" in one brand, but a "D" in another. Your implant size is determined by the measurement of your chest wall, and the amount of projection you wish your breast implants to be. Most women that have Breast Augmentation surgery desire a natural, proportionate look, but some want a larger, "fake" look, and some wish for or smaller, athletic look.

Do Breast Implants Cause Cancer?
Breast implants do not impair breast health. Careful review of scientific research conducted by independent groups such as the Institute of Medicine has found no proven link between breast implants and autoimmune or other systemic diseases.

In March of 2017, the FDA updated its 2011 warning and concluded that Textured Implants have a significantly higher correlation to a very rare form of cancer. We do not use Textured Implants at Plastic Surgery Plus. It’s important to know that the FDA emphasized that the risk of ALCL in women with breast implants is extremely low.

Will my Breast Implants be Placed Over or Under the Muscle?
Once you have made the decision to have Breast Augmentation Surgery, you will need to decide which placement would work best for you. The implant placement directly affects the look and feel of your breasts. Dr. Bhattacharya prefers implants be placed under the muscle for these reasons. There is less sagging involved with "unders", as the muscle partially holds the implants in a higher position. The muscle helps to create the natural-looking teardrop shape, and makes the implants feel more like real breasts.
What to Expect after having Breast Augmentation Surgery with Implants

Breast Augmentation / Breast Implant surgery usually takes one to two hours to complete. You can be back to work in a few days. Physical contact with breasts can be comfortable within 3 to 4 weeks. Fading of scars will occur within several months to a year or more. Call our Freehold, NJ office today to schedule a free consultation for Breast Augmentation with Saline or Silicone Implants.
Do I need to change my Breast Implants every ten years?

The short answer is probably not. 10-year studies were performed in 2011 on patients with breast implants, so data shows the results only over a 10-year span. However, since 2011, newer, fifth-generation implants have become available. These implants appear sturdier than the implants studied in 2011. We have seen many patients that have intact implants for 15 and even 20 years. With proper monitoring (self-exams, physician exams), you don't need to automatically replace your implants every 10 years. Implants used for breast reconstruction differ. Because of radiation and thinner breast skin after mastectomy, implants for breast reconstruction tend to have a higher percentage that may require exchanging sooner than a cosmetic patient would. The best data sometimes takes many years to be collected. Keep researching for the latest data.
